This is a rare Phulkari shawl, dating to the early 20th century and originates from the Punjab region. In an unusual purple hue—distinct from the traditional reds and oranges—this piece is emblematic of rarity and refinement, with very little wear despite its age.
Phulkari, meaning "flower work," is a form of counted-thread embroidery that has long adorned the wardrobes and dowries of Punjabi women.
